About Kayla
Hi, I’m Kayla.
One of my priorities is to validate each person’s lived experience, perspective, and needs within their efforts to grow; and this is included in my role as a clinical supervisor. I understand that each clinical supervisee will have their own aspirations, their own therapeutic preferences, and possibly most importantly, their own “why.” I will work with you to identify your goals for development as a clinical provider, and collaborate with you on a plan for achieving those goals. I understand that it can feel overwhelming entering this field due to all of the possibilities, modalities, client presentations, etc. As a clinical supervisor, I am committed to helping you build clinical confidence and a compass that will guide you as you move forward on your journey.
As a trauma therapist who specializes in cooccurring disorders (this generally includes developmental, chronic/complex, and single incident trauma, severe mental illness, and substance abuse), I am comfortable supervising a broad range of cases. This may include adjustment disorders/life transitions, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, PTSD/CPTSD, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, and all substance use disorders. I view faith as a strength, and welcome discussions around the use of faith to support therapeutic goals of clients.
Core Values:
- Integrity
- Curiosity (versus judgement
- Kindness
Supervision Style
As a supervisor I ascribe to the Integrative Supervision Model in which a combination of roles will be used, including that of teacher, counselor, and/or consultant. I am structured and goal oriented, and mostly take a person centered approach when supporting supervisees in developing their clinical identity.
Training/Credentials
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)
- Clinical modalities/theories: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brainspotting, Cognitive Processing Therapy (certified), Dialectic Behavior Therapy, Structural Dissociation, and Somatic Information Processing.
Background
I have supervised in both group and individual capacities to support burgeoning therapists. Within the individual supervision experience, I have supported students and provisionally licensed providers across the spectrum of experience, from entering the therapy room for the first time as a provider to providers with years of experience under their belt.
Outside of Work
My family is my main source of enjoyment outside of work! Together, my husband and I share one 13 year old son.
